Veterinarian Oncologists believe there are between four and eight million new cases of cancer in companion animals every year. Most of them never receive adequate care or treatment. Cincinnati Puppy Up! is hosting a special walk to benefit canine cancer research and comparative oncology research particularly focusing on the causal relationship between infections, immune response, and cancer, Sun. Nov. 7.

“The overall goal is to have two million dogs walking with their owners on Nov. 7 to raise awareness about canine cancer,” explained Patty Gartmann, coordinator for the Cincinnati event. “There are so many great dogs and terrific owners that care about them we are hoping several of them will join us at the Purple People Bridge to be a part of this event.”

Gartmann added that participants are encouraged to find sponsors to cover the entry fee and if so inclined; also ask others to sponsor their dog or team.

The event will have vendor booths featuring dog supplies, food and other items. Registrations are accepted online at Cincinnati Puppy Up!

The $25 entry fee includes a bandana and 2 Million Dogs Bracelet; donate or raise $100 and receive a walk t-shirt and bandana. Contact Patty Gartmann, (513) 697-0575 for more information.

Below is a list I’ve started of some of my favorite things in life. I’ve posted this to my Facebook page also. If you have suggested to add, please let me know either via a comment here or login to my Facebook page and add to the note.

Thanks!
Lisa

Laughing so hard that your stomach hurts
The innocent laughter of a child
A stranger who smiles and says hello just because
Telling someone they’re special
Knowing that you’re special to someone
A flower, so beautiful filled with life
The sunset and sunrise
The sound of waves crashing down while seagulls soar overhead
Hearing your favorite song on the radio
Hearing from an old friend and realizing some things remain the same
Mint chocolate chip ice cream
Going back for that sweater that’s been on your mind and finding it on sale
A big bear hug
A tender kiss from someone special
Puppy breath
