Cincinnati Area Donors Honored
It has been such a privilege to be working with the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council for the 7th year in promoting some of our region’s incredibly generous philanthropists through the Voices of Giving Awards. This year the organization honored donors on behalf of 25 nonprofit organizations whose important work is supported 
by their decision to give a planned gift (and much more in heart and time). Those Greater Cincinnati philanthropists are strengthening local neighborhoods, families and individual lives through their actions.
“Our Voices of Giving honorees have such diverse interests, often with deep rooted passion from personal experiences. They represent the true spirit of philanthropy and their gifts will touch thousands of lives directly and indirectly in our region, for generations to come. Their donations will help these important causes that are close to their hearts to be sustainable for future generations,” said Voices of Giving Co-Chair Molly Talbot, VP of Advancement at St. Ursula Academy.
Several hundred guests attended the Awards Event that was held at CET and emceed by Local 12’s John Lomax.

Sycamore Township Students’ Art Auctioned At Cincinnati Zoo

Congratulations to these Edwin H. Greene Intermediate fifth graders, two of many other students of Paula Webb whose barrels were on display and then auctioned off at the Cincinnati Zoo last Thursday! Paula had challenged her students to paint rain barrels that promoted water conservation efforts. Then they were judged along with 200 other design submissions from across the region – and every barrel by Edwiin H. Greene Intermediate students was chosen.
Once the designs were complete, the student barrels were judged by members of the Save Local Waters organization and the Hamilton County Soil and Conservation District, along with more than 200 other design submissions from across the Tri-state, to see which barrels would be displayed at the Cincinnati Zoo throughout April.

Another Side of Cincinnati Zoo’s Thane Maynard
Thane Maynard is our Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens’ director. He is also an ambassador for animals and a fun personality seen on many television shows. Tricia Macke from FOX19 sat down with him for a behind-the-scenes look at Thane’s life.
Cincinnati Earth Day Awards Seeking Nominations
What do Megan Guldner, Rhiannan Hoeweler and Alan Hagerty all have in common? They are all 2011 recipients of the Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration Environmental Awards.
Megan, a science teacher and ecology club moderator at Roger Bacon High School, strives to always make students aware of issues relating to the environment.
In 2010 Rhiannon formulated a personal goal of making the Cincinnati Zoo the number one zoo in the country for recycling cell phones. By the end of the year she gathered over 10,000 phones.
Alan jump started the University of Cincinnati sustainability program where he serves as student director. He brought recycling to the entire university and started the Bike Share program where students rent bikes to ride anywhere in the city to conserve gas.

Do you know an organization or an individual who is working to make the Greater Cincinnati more environment friendly? Submissions for the award are due by March 16 at this link. All Awards will be presented during Cincinnati’s Earth Day celebration, April 21.
